Game Design Document

Game Vector - XHTMLJunction

Hey!

For this week, I had to create a Game Design Document using DunDoc.com

The new website was difficult for my head to wrap around, but once I figured out the basics it wasn’t so bad anymore.

The template provided was definitely very helpful for me. However, the template had a lot of headings and sub-headings that I didn’t understand so I kind of got confused, but I think they were for more advanced games. I filled in the basic information my game idea consists of such as the “Story”, “Mechanics” and “How to Play” etc.

I feel like my previous project task was super helpful for this design document as it consisted of similar topics and headings.

I will be developing this document in the coming weeks, so this isn't this final document.

Here is the link to my Game Design Document:

In conclusion, I found that the DGG phase is the most tedious part of game design/development, but its the most important part as it helps you organise and visualise your ideas!

  1. Hey Khang,
I just finished reading your GDD it was a really well laid out document. I really love your idea for your game about the ninja who is scared of heights and gets kidnapped by aliens and has to escape by jumping out of the spaceship and running on high platforms it's super creative. I was just wondering will the obstacles be just be the enemies attacking or will there be objects such as barriers to slow the player down. what if you added in a difficulty setting so that the player could make it harder or easier for themselves I am not sure if you would be able to do this but if you could it might be a good idea to add it. I hope all is going well for you in developing your game.

  2. Hi Khang,
Nice game document, I like the enthusiasm.. it really gives me a perspective of the game. The story line is very exciting and creative. Can you win the game? I think it would be cool to see the aliens getting slapped up for violating. Hope you are working well with unity, it is a hard program to get used to. It is what it is. The scenery of the game will look cool to play in, my game is similar to that, it is basically based in the sky because my main character is a parrot. Job well done!

  3. Hi Khang, really nice game design document it is well laid out and easy to read. I like the idea of your game that the player won't be able to stop running I think that this will keep the player interested and engaged to the game. Just a question will the player be dodging anything to make it more difficult for them to get past? such as a box or tree branches falling perhaps?. Best of luck with the game hope it turns out for you -Niamh
